Who We Are

The biggest question I get when people ask about MiFrames.com is "how did you come up with such a great idea?" I wish it was some sort of divine intervention or a stroke inspiration, but truth be told, it was my 10-year-old daughter and the desire to frame a picture she took. The trail took me to the normal suspects–local frame shop and craft stores, but, low and behold, I needed to bring them a printed picture, which of course, was another step in what I felt should have been an easy process. After printing the picture, the framer assistant said I would need to use my “imagination” to see how the picture would look in single mat, double matt, wood frame, metal frame, glass or acrylic, etc… Anyone who has gone through this bit of agony can attest that it can sometimes be very daunting.

After making many painful choices and using my rapidly dwindling imagination, I was able to come up with a "purportedly" professionally framed, custom-made piece of art.

The pricing process turned out to be the hardest part. The price estimate led me to believe that unless this piece of art was going to appreciate in a dramatic fashion over the next few years, my "simple" framing project was not going to fit into my budget. My only other option would be to go through the exercise again but use different materials and styles. Which lead me to say:

"Thank you for your time… I’ll think about it." Quote by Brian Atkinson at frame shop.

To be honest, I like quality, simplicity and convenience. I order things on the web because I can take my time and do it when I want without wasting my time or someone else's. My wife Jill and I created MiFrames.com for all the novice, accidental and "appointed" family photographers out there who has stumbled upon one or two truly special photos that capture one of life’s special moments and needs to be preserved and displayed.

The other alternative is to leave the photo in computer purgatory for all of eternity or until your computer crashes…
